Day 23 - Time

After two super late nights of scaring the crapola out of people, my brain is a little tired/fried. I thought I had today's post all planned out, but I can't seem to remember a single thing.  Instead, I'll share with you one of my favorite quotes.

And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun.

The road that is built in hope is more pleasant to the traveler
than the road built in despair,
even though they both lead to the same destination.

In honor of the Huskers' first game of the season, this week's WW are a few words that have become an adopted motto of Nebraskans...

"Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory."
~Hartley Burr Alexander, professor of philosophy at UNL~

In 1923, these words are engraved on the pillar in the southwest corner of Memorial Stadium.

"...let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure."
~Albus Dumbledore~

I know I've used this one before, but it's my favorite quote from the book. Since Taylor and I are going to see this movie this morning, I thought I'd use it again!

"The first thing I put in was this diary, then hair curlers, handkerchiefs, schoolbooks, a comb, old letters; I put in the craziest things with the idea that we were going into hiding. But I'm not sorry, memories mean more to me than dresses."

"All I want in life is a dance partner"
~Drew Barrymore as Little Edie Beale~

I've seen the documentary only once, and I'm debating on whether or not I want to see it again. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it left me a little sad, but in a cheery way. Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange star as Little Edie and Big Edie in a new HBO movie, also called Grey Gardens. I can not wait until it becomes available on DVD. There are so many questions I have, and I think this new movie will answer them since it goes back to when Little Edie is only 19.

Another photo of the chair I posted about yesterday. This was taken at an old farmhouse just east of where I live. I was using it as a prop while taking pictures of my sister-in-laws kids.

I'm sure by now you've all heard about Susan Boyle. I hadn't heard her sing until just now, and her performance brought tears to my eyes. To see her on "Britain's Got Talent" just click here or on the picture below. I so look forward to hearing more from her in the future.

"Do not protect yourself by a fence, but rather by your friends." ~Czech Proverb~

My great-uncle Faye is the third from left. His cousin, August "Swede" Miller, is 2nd from the right. The rest, I think, are friends. They're the kind of people who are friends for life, and when they're gone, their children keep up the old friendships. This is a group of some of the most fortunate people you'll ever see.
